According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month “is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease”. The organization also points out that, while most people are aware of breast cancer, many still do not take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages.
Here are a few things that you can do to make the most out of this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
1. Wear Pink.
Donning pink is a great way to show your support while (hopefully) serving as a reminder to strike up conversations about this important health event with those around you.
2. Get Screened.
Create an early detection plan. Then make an appointment to get a breast cancer screening and encourage your loved ones to do the same. It’s that simple.
October is also Mouth Cancer Action Month—which you can learn all about here—and since all of us at Vista Dental Care wholeheartedly believe that regular cancer screenings of any kind are VERY important, we offer oral cancer screenings throughout the month of October. Give us a call at (650) 871-1430 for more information!
3. Do Something.
Whether you choose to make a monetary donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, partner with the National Breast Cancer Foundation as a sponsor, volunteer your time as an advocate of hope or round up your friends and family to put on a fundraiser, you can change someone’s life.
Spreading the word on social media never hurts. Be sure to “like” the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s Facebook page here and follow them here on Twitter to be kept in the loop with their going-ons.
In case you missed our previous post, it is also National Dental Hygiene Month!
