A Do-It-Yourself Dental Checkup

While there is no substitute for regular dental office visits (which we made a case for Why You Really Should Visit The Dentist, in case you missed it), there are some telltale signs that there is trouble in (oral health) paradise. Here’s what to do.

Check Your Tongue

Say “ahh”. Bumps, cuts or lesions on your tongue are often an indicator of a serious dental issue. If you notice that anything odd has cropped up on your tongue, go ahead and book an appointment with your dentist immediately.

Test Your Gums

If your gums are not in tip-top shape, odds are that your teeth aren’t either. If your gums bleed frequently, are super sensitive or have any strange rough areas on the surface of your gums, you should consult a professional.

Examine Your Tooth Shade

White teeth aren’t always healthy teethin fact, bleaching teeth often just masks the side effects of poor oral care habits—if your pearly whites have experienced a drastic transformation as of late and are looking yellow, you might want to chat with your dentist to discover exactly what is going on.
