Nope: DIY Dental Services

Nope-DIY Dental Services

The Internet has made it possible to embark on many new creative endeavors from the comfort of your own home. And that’s fantastic; in fact we have already fallen under the spell of bake-it-yourself treat recipes that we collected from around the web.

But there is one trend that we keep hearing about that sends shivers down our spines…do-it-yourself dentistry. We wish we were making that up.

From homemade “tooth whitening” concoctions with questionable ingredients to ill-advised “brace”-replication procedures, DIY dentistry is becoming more and more popular.

But, despite claims that these treatments and tricks will please penny-pinchers, DIY dentistry is a disaster-in-the-making. Its negative effects may wreak havoc on your pearly whites and may end up costing you much more than the initial in-an-actual-office service would have.

Furthermore, a dentist has been educated about the ins and outs of oral care and their skills have been honed throughout years and years of study and practice. Attempting to match the results of their handiwork by following the steps outlined in some tutorial (and from someone who most likely knows little-to-nothing about the field) is foolhardy, to say the least.

So, please heed our words of warning and leave dentistry up to the professionals. Your smile will be all the better for it, we swear!
