Tooth Whitening “Tricks” That Are Actually A Complete Waste Of Time

Tooth Whitening “Tricks” That Are Actually A Complete Waste Of Time

We think it is safe to say that nearly everyone has come across some sort of tooth whitening trick or “hack”, at one point or another.

Here are three that you should definitely not try.

1. Baking Soda & Peroxide.

What’s the harm? Well, according to WebMD, it is extremely difficult to get this mixture correct. Too much peroxide can irritate your gums and teeth, while too much baking soda can wear down enamel. Yikes.

2. Whitening Toothpaste.

This is admittedly a mixed bag, as some whitening toothpaste options might actually be worthwhile; be sure to look for picks that have the ADA Seal of Acceptance, though.

Even so, don’t fall for marketing gimmicks that try to convince you that any one product will undoubtedly give you the smile of your dreams. It’s likely nonsense.

3. Non-Dentist-Approved Kits

Public praises from social media influencers might not actually amount to much, when you consider the fact that the whitening kits and tools they are pushing online probably weren’t approved by dentists. That isn’t a promising start, is it?

The bottom line – focus on the tried, true (and safe) instead.
